We talk a lot about road vehicles here at Totalkare — from workshops and fleets to the essential equipment you need to service vehicles.
But beyond our core as a commercial vehicle equipment supplier, we’ve spent the last few years serving the rail industry, supplying heavy-duty lifting and inspection equipment for trains and train components.
So if you’re setting up a new rail depot, we’ve got the equipment you need to succeed.
Here’s what every railway workshop needs to get started:
We’ve been a leading supplier of mobile column lifts for over 40 years, developing and refining our commercial vehicle column lifts to create some of the safest and most effective mobile lifts around.
And with our railway lifting jacks, we’ve taken all of that knowledge and experience into a whole new sector — with the rail industry’s equivalent of a vehicle mobile column lift.
Our Totalkare Railway Lifting Jacks are the ideal heavy-duty solution for lifting in a rail workshop — giving you access to the underside of trains and carriages for the essential maintenance your depot needs.
With a lifting capacity of up to 50,000kg per column — as well as options for either a fixed or mobile installation — a set of Railway Lifting Jacks gives you a lifting solution for almost every type of train, and every type of premises.
You can lift smaller carriages with a simple set of 4 lifting columns, or synchronise a set of up to 128 to raise an entire train in one operation. So when it comes to railway lifting, there’s no job too big for our Railway Lifting Jacks.
Bogie Lifting Platforms
With so much going on in a railway bogie, it’s one of the most common areas that needs in-depth maintenance and repair.
And that means you need a safe and controlled way of moving and manipulating it — from removal and handling to its assembly back onto the carriage.
Our Totalkare Bogie Lifting Platforms come with a lifting capacity of between 6,000kg and 14,000kg, which means they’re equipped to handle almost any size and weight of railway bogie.
They come with a safety laser scanner to detect obstacles as they move horizontally along the rails — and a convenient central opening in the upper pad to give your operators access to the underside of the carriage while the lifting platform’s in use.
Rail Inspection Pits
Just like an inspection pit for commercial vehicles, a Rail Inspection Pit gives you full access to the underside of a train carriage in a permanent and convenient fixed installation.
It’s perfect for premises without much vertical space — or for any rail depot or workshop that needs a long-lasting fixture that can stand the test of time.
Each of our Totalkare Rail Inspection Pits comes with a fully welded construction to protect against water ingress, as well as options for customisation, including tunnels, recesses, and underground workshops.
But it’s not just about the high-quality construction and the technical specs:
A dedicated rail inspection pit helps your teams do more.
With a permanent installation below the tracks in your workshop — as well as the option to work on both the top and the underside of the train at the same time — a rail inspection pit can lead to higher throughput, greater efficiency, and a more profitable way of servicing trains and carriages.
