UNO BUS TAKES PRE-MOT LANE EQUIPMENT FROM TOTALKARE

Hertfordshire-based Uno Bus has acquired a range of testing equipment for their Hatfield depot in order to carry out pre-MOT tests on their buses, with help from workshop experts Totalkare.

Operated by the University of Hertfordshire, Uno Bus serves the general public as well as its own students and staff with a fleet of around 50 vehicles. To keep up with the demand of repair and maintenance work on their fleet of buses, the company have opted to expand their workshop equipment range to include shaker plates and a headlamp tester.

The company (formerly known as University Bus) was looking to achieve a pre-MOT lane within a short timeframe and a key factor in the selection of Totalkare was their ability to meet these deadlines for the supply and install all the equipment, minimising any downtime and enabling Uno Bus to keep their fleet on the road.

While a vehicle pit already existed at the depot, Totalkare installed shaker plates across this to increase Uno Bus’ testing capabilities within the same footprint.

The Totalkare headlamp tester is perfect for checking both the orientation and intensity of a vehicle headlamp, to ensure that it meets the minimum required standards. Headlamp aim is the most common failure item at annual test for both HGVs and PSVs, therefore it will play an important role in ensuring all vehicle headlamps are in working order and compliant with DVSA standards.

“Although there were time constraints and with the electrics having to be run through different rooms due to the equipment that needed to be installed, we were able to get Uno Bus up and running as quickly as possible”, said James Atkins, Area Sales Manager at Totalkare. “They were delighted with the quick turnaround of the install and were impressed with the level of detail provided by Totalkare as we completed the vehicle pit with a grey epoxy resin and yellow and black chevrons. The equipment adds to their existing Totalkare S6NG mobile column lifts, and mobile brake tester at the Northampton site, allowing them to test vehicles around the county. The entire range of equipment has also been backed up by a Totalkare service contract, allowing the company to benefit from our world class support.”
