TotalKare wireless lifts improve workshop efficiency

Cable-free vehicle lifts supplied by TotalKare – the UK’s number one provider of heavy-duty vehicle lifting solutions – have improved efficiency at WTL Truck & Van Centres.
From its Renault Trucks franchised site in Duxford, Cambridge, WTL Truck & Van Centres services and repairs all makes of truck and van, as well as maintaining the Welch Transport mixed fleet of vehicles. Tasks carried out at the workshop include MoTs, servicing, tachograph calibration and repairs. WTL also handles other service contracts on all makes of vehicles.
Until WTL bought a set of four hydraulic cable-free mobile column lifts from TotalKare it had to carry out a large percentage of its vehicle work using pits. However, as the workshop got busier it became obvious that more options and flexibility were needed and the new lifts have given them another bay to work in while freeing up a pit for straightforward inspection jobs.
With no interconnecting cables and the ability to be charged from a 240V wall socket, the TotalKare lifts combine mobility with a lifting capacity of 7,500kg per column. This makes them ideal for workshops that service any kind of commercial vehicle, including buses, coaches and waste and recycling vehicles. Other features of the lifts include their ability to be connected in four-, six- or eight-column configurations and adjustable forks that make it easy to handle vehicles with wheels that range from 700mm to 1400mm in diameter.
Paul Sapsford, General Manager at WTL Truck & Van Centres, says: “Working only with pits was no longer practical for us so we looked around for heavy-duty vehicle lifts and the TotalKare equipment had good reviews from other users and the price was right.”
He adds: “These lifts effectively give us another bay, making us much more productive and more efficient. Also, because they are cable-free they make the workshop safer by helping to avoid health and safety issues such as slips and trips over wires trailing on the floor.
“The lifts are a worry-free, worthwhile investment and they have made such a big difference in the short time that we’ve had them.”
Other key features of the TotalKare lifts include the ability to control lifting operations from any column combined with a large number of lifting cycles between charges, electronic shutdown if an obstruction is detected, a hand operated, spring loaded, self-activating jack that lifts the base plate from the floor, an automatic jack brake and an independent locking safety device.
