Pelican Engineering Scales up With Totalkare Column Lifts and Training

Yorkshire-based Pelican Engineering Group has boosted its workshop capacity with a brand new set of Totalkare mobile column lifts.

The Castleford company, which celebrated its centenary last year, provides sales & service of coaches and trucks, partnering with some of the biggest and best manufacturers in the world including Yutong, DAF and MAN.

After investing in its first set of Totalkare mobile column lifts in 2008, Pelican Engineering Group recently added an additional set of T8DC cable-free mobile column lifts to make a total of four sets in its nine-bay workshop.

The T8DC mobile column lift from Totalkare lifts up to 7,500kg per column and can be used in configurations of four, six or eight columns to suit a wide range of lifting requirements.  It also features adjustable forks to cater for varying wheel diameters.  Its manoeuvrability makes it a truly flexible lifting solution for commercial vehicle workshops.

Pelican Engineering Group has also invested in Totalkare’s CPD-certified online training for mobile column lifts, which features key learning on PUWER and LOLER as well as model-specific video training modules to ensure operatives are fully versed in the operation of mobile column lifts and the associated health and safety considerations.

“Our bus and coach business is at the forefront of the electric bus revolution, while our truck dealerships are among the largest in the county,” said Paul Bugg, Service Manager at Pelican Engineer Group, “Sustained growth in our service business has made it necessary to double our vehicle lifting capacity and we’ve been pleased with the quality of service and customer support from Totalkare since first introducing their mobile column lifts over a decade ago so returning to them for the additional lifts made sense.”

Jack Longstaff, Area Sales Manager for Totalkare, said “Paul and the team at Pelican Engineering Group have been a pleasure to work with over the past three years and we are delighted to have been able to assist with both the new mobile column lifts and online training, the latter underlining their commitment to investing in staff skills and health and safety.”
