Hydraulic lift first for haulage firm

A successful, family-owned, haulage firm is hoping its latest investment in heavy-duty vehicle lifting equipment will help to drive its continued growth. Coventry-based Davison Transport has become one of the first transport firms in the UK to take delivery of a set of hydraulic lifts from TOTALKARE.
Now available alongside TOTALKARE’s acclaimed electromechanical products, the new hydraulic column lifts were launched at the beginning of November and the Halesowen-based company has already received a raft of orders from across the UK, both for cabled and cable-free versions.
The cabled lifts supplied to Davison Transport will be used to help keep the firm’s fleet of eight Volvo and Scania tractor units on the road, whilst helping the company to advance its plans to expand its range of services to include contract repair and servicing work.
Chris Toney, Transport Manager at Davison Transport, explained: “We have a 1,500 sq ft workshop, with plenty of space and have the capacity and engineering experience to offer our services to an increasing number of transport operators and distribution centres relocating to the area.
“The new lifts are much quicker to operate than our old ones and as we can move them around the workshop, we can make best use of the space we have available.”
The new lifts replace older TOTALKARE equipment that had seen many years of service, prior to being purchased by Davison Transport.
“We have never had a problem in terms of reliability when it comes to TOTALKARE products so it made sense to speak to the company when it came to making this new investment,” Chris said. “Originally we were thinking of acquiring another set of pre-owned lifts but these new hydraulic lifts offered such good value that it made more sense to buy new.
“Furthermore we have always received fantastic after sales support and we’ve signed up for a full service and maintenance package that ensures we are fully compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation.”
The new lifts will be in constant use at the workshop, helping Chris and his team perform a wide range of servicing and repair work on the firm’s eight trucks and nine trailers that transport a wide variety of primarily palletised freight the length and breadth of the country.
Tristan Johnston, Sales and Marketing Manager at TOTALKARE, commented: “We are delighted that the lifts have been so well received by all at Davison Transport and it’s fitting that another forward-thinking West Midlands company is the first company to receive a set of hydraulic lifts carrying the TOTALKARE name.
Launched at the NEC, Birmingham on November 1, the new lifts can be used in sets of four, six or eight with a capability of 7,500kg per column. Lifting operations can be controlled from any column, whilst the adjustable forks have been designed to fit a variety of wheel sizes from 700mm to 1,400mm.
Built to last, both cabled and cable-free designs feature an inverted hydraulic cylinder inside the carriage protecting the chrome piston rod, and, for extra peace of mind, like all lifts supplied by TOTALKARE, the hydraulic models can be covered by the company’s AfterKare package of maintenance support.
“Within a few weeks of their launch, our T8 AC and T8 DC models look set to prove best sellers,” Tristan added.
