WJ North upskills engineers with Totalkare column lift training

A leading road marking company has reinforced its commitment to people skilling through the renewal of online mobile column lift training from workshop equipment experts Totalkare.

WJ North, part of the WJ Group, offers permanent, temporary and specialist road markings and removals. Since 2014, its road marking and traffic management vehicles have been manufactured, maintained, and serviced by in-house engineers at its West Yorkshire and Newcastle-under-Lyme depots. The latter has been using mobile column lifts from Totalkare to lift and maintain heavy duty vehicles for several years, and earlier this year the depot leased in two more sets of Totalkare’s cable-free mobile column lifts, bringing the total to 12 individual lifts.  A flexible lifting solution, Totalkare’s column lifts can be used in configurations of four, six or eight in order to lift a wide range of vehicles.

To accompany these new lifts WJ North has renewed its training licenses with Totalkare, originally purchased in 2019. The 17 licenses will provide engineers with CPD-certified mobile column lift training through Totalkare’s online portal, valid for a further three years once passed. The media-rich training includes modules covering rules and regulations relating to PUWER and LOLER, lift-specific tuition, ancillary product information and safety checks through a range of informational guidances and video tutorials.

Whereas traditional courses can be difficult to organise due to time constraints and workshop capacity, online training is ideal for busy workshops as it is flexible to the schedule of individual employees and will provide WJ North management with live staff progress information.

Scott Logan, Group Transport Manager for WJ Group commented: “After a simple and efficient experience with our initial mobile column lift training in 2019, when the current licences expired after three years, it only made sense to return to Totalkare to keep our workshop operating smoothly and safely and to invest further in the development of our staff.”

George Georgiou, Area Sales Manager for Totalkare, added: “With the addition of two further sets of T8DC cable-free mobile column lifts to the Newcastle-under-Lyme depot with accompanying training, WJ North will ensure that its workforce can make the most out of the new equipment to maximise workshop capacity. We build several important safety features into the lifts themselves but nevertheless, its important operatives have received the proper training to ensure they are used safely and responsibly – our online training is a simple-to-use tool that makes such learning easy.”
