National Express West Midlands has upgraded its mobile lifting solution at its Wolverhampton depot with assistance from lifting and testing experts Totalkare.
National Express West Midlands is the largest bus operator in the West Midlands – and one of the biggest in the UK as part of the wider global National Express Group.
With a total fleet of 1,600 vehicles, the leading bus operator enables hundreds of thousands of people to travel across the region every day. To keep this essential service running, those buses are inspected regularly at National Express depots and prepared for their annual MOT test.
And that’s where Totalkare comes in.
National Express West Midlands’ Wolverhampton depot had been using mobile column lifts to perform vehicle maintenance for two decades. However, in 2020 the decision was made to upgrade to the latest cable-free hydraulic lifting technology provided by Totalkare’s T8DC lifts. Following the successful impact of the upgraded set on the efficiencies within the workshop, the decision was made to introduce two further sets of T8DC in 2021.
FLEXIBLE AND COST-EFFECTIVE
With a safe working load capacity of 7,500kg per column, the T8DC mobile column lifts can be easily manoeuvred around the workshop, providing flexibility of lifting positions. The adjustable wheel forks facilitate the lifting of vehicles with a range of wheel diameters and the lifts can be configured in sets of four, six, or eight providing a solution for any lifting requirement.
The T8DC lifts require no installation or ground preparation work before use, making them a much more flexible and cost-effective alternative to a fixed lift installation.
FULLY SUPPORTED BY EXPERT SERVICE
Robert Davies, Engineering Manager at the Wolverhampton Depot explained, “We had the option to repair our old lifts or upgrade to brand new sets. Totalkare made the process simple for us and supplied us with a hire set of lifts whilst we made our decision. The engineers always provide an expert service, and we feel fully supported by Totalkare throughout the lifespan of the equipment.”
Brian Young, National Account Manager at Totalkare added, “We provide workshop equipment to a number of National Express sites across the region, and it’s great to continue our excellent relationship with the organisation. We also provide a comprehensive service contract to National Express West Midlands, which ensures peace of mind for the customer in the knowledge that their vital equipment is being maintained to a high standard.”
