TOOLBOX TALK: Incorrect and dangerous use of support stands

In recent weeks we have received reports from several of our engineers that they have visited sites where support stands are being used unsafely.
They have witnessed tall stands being used on a vehicle in conjunction with short stands where the heights are being adjusted to match.
This is incorrect use and very dangerous.
TotalKare tall stands have a minimum height of 1520mm and short stands a maximum height of 1410mm. Therefore while they may look similar heights, when used together it can compromise the stability of the vehicle being lifted.
Our recommendation:
TotalKare’s recommendation when multiple support stands are being used is that they are all either tall or short – they should not be mixed.
If you new or replacement support stands, mobile column lifts or other workshop equipment, TotalKare can help – call us today on 0121 585 2724.
