BS Trailer Services Invests in Load Simulation Brake Tester

BS Trailer Services, a specialist in commercial trailer maintenance and repair, has strengthened its testing capabilities with the installation of a Totalkare load simulation brake tester.

Operating from their workshop in Leighton Buzzard, BS Trailer Services provides inspection, servicing, and repair work for a wide range of trailers. To meet growing customer demand and maintain the highest safety standards, the company identified the need for an on-site brake testing solution that could handle trailers under realistic operating conditions.

Traditionally, brake testing on unladen trailers can result in inaccurate results, as braking performance changes under load. BS Trailer Services sought a system that could replicate the weight of a fully loaded trailer without the need for additional ballast or transport costs.

The Totalkare load simulation brake tester provides DVSA-compliant brake performance testing, simulating load conditions at the push of a button. This allows BS Trailer Services to:

  • Accurately assess braking efficiency.
  • Reduce downtime by eliminating the need to load vehicles before testing.
  • Provide certified brake test reports for customers.
  • Improve safety by ensuring braking performance matches real-world conditions.

Area Sales Manager, James Atkins worked closely with the BS Trailer Services team to ensure the correct specification and smooth installation. James commented: “BS Trailer Services takes vehicle safety extremely seriously. The load simulation function on this brake tester ensures their brake tests are as accurate as possible, regardless of whether the trailer arrives laden or empty. This investment will save them time while delivering the highest standard of compliance.”

Lee Hudson from BS Trailer Services Ltd added: “We’re very impressed with the accuracy and ease of use of the Totalkare load simulation brake tester. It’s already improved our workflow and given us even greater confidence in the quality of our brake inspections.”
