Commercial vehicle repairer AJ Spence has upgraded their workshop equipment by introducing a mobile brake tester from UK lifting and testing experts Totalkare. Conducting brake tests in-house will allow them to save time and money by cutting out regular visits to test stations.
Based in Milnathort, Scotland, AJ Spence carries out repairs, diagnostics and maintenance work on a range of vehicles from horseboxes, tippers, municipal, and car transporters, while also offering a 24/7 breakdown service. The introduction of a Totalkare mobile brake tester will ensure their vehicles remain legally compliant while also maximising fleet availability.
Totalkare’s DVSA-approved mobile brake tester can accommodate up to 20,000kg per axle and a number of wheel bases up to 4,000mm. The brake tester comes with a tablet device which uses a virtual display to show all the readings of the test, and a touchscreen-based remote control, enabling brake tests to be conducted from the driver’s seat in a matter of minutes.
The brake tester also comes supplied with computer, monitor, printer and cabinet included, and is connected equipment-ready.
“With the number of vehicles being tested by AJ Spence rising steadily, it was a no brainer to bring their brake testing in-house. It is more cost effective than travelling to a dedicated test centre and will increase our productivity from the outset,” said Nigel Poynton, Area Sales Manager at Totalkare, “The equipment was secured alongside a Totalkare service package, which includes two engineer service and calibration visits per year for peace of mind.”
